The Holiday Season
For the holidays this year the Children's radiology department has decided to wear red, green and white scrubs just to make the department seem more festive. In the MRI suites we cannot do a lot of decorating due to our concerns about MRI compatibility, so we felt that at the least our outfits could help pass along the holiday spirit. The patients seem to really like the idea--at least the older ones that can recognize that everyone is in holiday colors. We also speak with the children about the holidays. Conversations about time off from school and gifts really helps to distract them from the MRI procedure. We have also purchased special holiday movies that older children watch during their scans. Parents seem to also appreciate the fact that Children's has not forgotten that it is an important and exciting time of the year for most children--sick or not, they look forward to the holiday season.
