Epic Radiant

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta's Radiology Department is currently in the midst of converting our radiology systems from RIS to Epic Radiant. The "go-live" process has been divided up into two stages: 1) scheduling go-live which began two weeks ago and 2) hospital go-live which will be on 2/27. This conversion to an updated system has been a long time coming and we are very excited to have a more robust system. We selected Epic for several reasons: 1) the system chose an Epic product for hospital documentation; 2) the scheduling process seemed more intuitive and was able to provide notes to schedulers regarding patient preps and arrival times; 3) the techs are able to schedule inpatient exams using the scheduling function 4) the Epic product allowed techs more screens for documentation such as amount of contrast. This is an exciting and stressful time for the department--anyone who has been through a major IS system transition can probably understand all the time and effort put into this process. We look forward to full implementation!
