This is one of my favorite quotes..........

Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision.

The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives.

It is the fuel that allows common people to obtain uncommon results.

I agree....without teamwork the day is just so much longer.....it's about the patients, not us!

Teamwork is so important in the health care setting. Patients should always be the first priority.

yes, Iagree your quotes. But, at the same time working with the team is not enough there should be a mutual understanding with each other and priority should be given to the patient. eg.. The team work should be like a roots of the tree and the patient are branches. If the roots(Team work) are stronger, there will be more branches(Patients) in the tree. You should understand that tree is a Hospital.

Teamwork is the one of the most important qualities for any department to posses. However, the teamwork should be centered around the patient, because that is who we work for, rather than teamwork around personal goals. If you have a team that has similar personal goals, and they are not the patient care, then there is trouble. The teamwork is only as good as the individual team members’ values, ethic and moral.

Good teamwork is a product of good leadership. I am so fortunate to work with an incredible team of people. I see others areas within the organization lacking that sense of camaraderie that my teamates and I share. We are happy to be at work, and that is a blessing!

I believe that patients sense our pleasure or displeasure with our work environment. Having been a patient myself, I can say that patient satisfaction increases when those of us who are providing care are comfortable and happy in the work environment.

Teamwork takes on a whole new meaning for me, as I am clinical coordinator for a radiology program. Teamwork involves not only those faculty that I work with, but the students, the clinical sites and administration. It is a very complicated "balancing act" sometimes, but there is such a feeling of accomplishment when I actually take a part in getting all of the above to come together as a team! We try to instill that feeling of "teamwork" in our students everyday, and hope that they will be better technologists for it someday.

I certainly agree with putting the patient's first, but do not agree with taking advantage of staff, in doing so, thus perhaps causing burn out etc.. Technologists along with radiologist are human and need not be pushed to the very limit each day of a working career. Hope we are all using good common sense we we proclaim patients first.

Angela, I can not agree with you more on that. The place where I work currently is trying to stretch two FT techs to cover a department 24/7 with no OT at all. So, even though we are FT, we must be working as PRN FT and flex our time at their needs. While it is very cruel, here the bottom line for our management is $$$$. One would wonder if they care about employee satisfaction and patient care really. What is happening in our department is far beyond burn outs, we feel our time and life are being abused, and we have no choice but to quit.

Wow Bobbie, you are so lucky to be working at such a great place. Yes, patients notice our behavior and they surely sense feelings about the work environment.
