the weekly source for radiology professionals

Looking ahead...

Wow, how time has flown! It only feels like yesterday that I walked into my first day of class full of curiosity and uncertainty. It is the end of the spring semester, with finals in the next couple days. In a few weeks we are going to start our summer semester, which consists of clinicals for 4 days a week. Do a lot of other programs do this as well? I am both excited and very nervous at the same time. This is the time where I am going to get the most experience so I am really looking forward to it. I'd say the largest attributes I've improved on since the program started were self-confidence, people skills, and making exams go as smoothly as possible. I still have so much I want to work on!

Finding my niche in radiography...

My favorite part of radiography is evaluating and looking for pathology in my images. I love to try and figure out what is going wrong and why. Pathology fascinates me so much, I am trying to collect and organize a library of films. I seem to remember the medical terminology, diseases, and conditions well. All this has made think about furthering my education and becoming a radiologist. It has always been an ambition of mine since I was a kid to become a doctor. I don't know about all the schooling involved with becoming a radiologist except medical school and doing a residency. If I was going to go through with my ambitions, I would want to be a radiographer and work to go to school. Are there programs that will help pay for you to go to med school? I really don't know much about it, so I guess that's something I'll be looking into...
