Welcome to Imaging On Call

Imaging On Call is a full service teleradiology provider based in Poughkeepsie, NY. We currently have 21 radiologists reading studies from home for approximately 60 hospitals and imaging centers. Our business is expanding in several directions and we would welcome a discussion about any or all of the following: - the trend toward daytime and final reads - changes in teleradiology technology requirements - increasing interest in subspecialty reads - the need for more automated customer reporting tools - expansion beyond radiology into other areas of medicine We look forward to hearing from you.

Teleradiology… someone had told me once before that the radiologists in general are not physicians that like to meet their patients, so how about the teleradiologists? While Teleradiology is all good and has so many advantages, it has its limitations, one of which would be physician-patient-technologist contact. Physician – technologist contact is very important especially if the technologist needs an immediate response. But if the phone line is busy what do you do then? If the teleradiologist is not there to answer the phone what do you do then?

As far as expansion in other areas of medicine… well medicine is there to treat the patient. The patient is our primary customer and the family members. If there is no contact between the physician, or the medical personnel and the patient and the family, can we still provide satisfying service? Medicine is a sort of business, but not quite as every other business, and that is what some forget. The most important factor in medicine is the human factor. Once that is ignored, then it becomes a business just like every other business…

Automated customer reporting tools – that might be the best thing to happen in teleradiology. Every one is happy when as soon as the images are read the referring/ordering physician gets the results and the patient or family is notified immediately. Talk about timely service…this is the new trend and it is great. Get your radiology results the same day within an hour or two after you finished the test, even if it is not stat or a call report.

The phone line should not be busy, but it is always possible that the teleradiologist will be on the phone, most likely speaking to another physician or technologist. But they will get back to you.

I couldn't agree with you more with regards to patient care and remembering that we need to dliver top quality care and also compassion for the patient and the family. As teleradiology is one step further removed from face to face contact, this must be adressed by those delivering the service.

I think we will see much more in the area of automated customer reporting tools. Teleradiolgy companies will be held tokeeping contracted comitments and customers will demand on-line tools to make sure that they do.

Have you seen any interest in teleprocessing in radiology? I would be curious to know if there is an increasing demand for technologist to provide telepost-processing for some modalities such as 3D CT and/or MRI, or NM.

As a company, I am glad to see us moving into a thin client solution. It's clear this is a trend that is important to physicians.

We have just recently spent a good deal of time discussing the reporting requirements for our existing and future customers. What kind of reports do you receive now? How frequently are they sent? How would you like to see this improved?
