the weekly source for radiology professionals

rt image on Your Desktop

Many of our readers receive the print version of rt image and its e-newsletter each week, but increasingly more readers are taking advantage of a third medium: the digital publication (we call it the "dPub")

The dPub is a PDF of the print version of the magazine that is downloaded to your desktop each week. Within the file, you can navigate through the pages of each issue easily, as well as zoom in or out on text.

The dPub is also interactive and user-friendly, as it contains links in all editorial and ads to Web sites and e-mail addresses which put you in closer contact with the people and companies involved in radiology.

Another helpful feature that the dPub possesses is its ability to be archived. With all of the issues, including rt image's annual Radiology Directory, organized in a folder on your desktop, you can hold on to rt image for later reference.

Yet another benefit the dPub offers is its ability to reach our international colleagues. At every trade show we attend, we notice many interested radiology professionals reside and work overseas. We offer them the dPub subscription, which allows them to still be a part of our readership.

On average, more than 5,500 people download the digital version each week. For the April 28 issue, we have seen an all-time record of 7,000 downloads. And our pass-along rate of the digital version is at 44 percent.

I have a hunch that the increase in dPub subscriptions we've seen can be attributed, at least in part, to the growing "green" movement. The dPub saves paper - plain and simple! Although our print edition is recyclable, many are opting to receive their news electronically, saving paper and energy. Or, perhaps some of our readers already receive enough mail and welcome the option to read the digital version.

Sign up for your free subscription to the dPub here and you will see why the dPub has been catching on. I'm also attaching a sample PDF of the dPub, so you can look at it before you sign up. (Each week's dPub file is available for download on our homepage, rt-image.com.

On another note, we'll have a booth at the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine Annual Meeting from May 15-18 in Seattle. Stop by to visit us at Booth #1003.
