Every year, the technologists and other staffers at the Magnetic Imaging Center in Mechanicsburg, Pa., make a commitment to the American Cancer Society to collect monetary donations and walk in their annual 5K Strides Against Breast Cancer event in Harrisburg, Pa. The Magnetic Imaging Center provides the services of breast MRI and MRI-guided breast biopsy to the community of Central Pennsylvania. Because of that, they feel strongly about giving back to the community in which they live and work. (Elizabeth Flanagan)

Magnetic Imaging Center staffers participate in the Strides Against Breast Cancer; walk participants organize a “Book and Bake” sale to help them raise additional monies.

On October 4, all of the office staff of XRAYZ 4U LLC, an agency that staffs imaging professionals, gathered in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The radiology department at New York-based NYU Langone Medical Center provides care to special subsets of their residents who have fallen through the cracks of the healthcare system. One program that NYU Langone participates in is the New York City Free Clinic (NYCFC). The NYCFC provides its patients (all uninsured New York residents) with the full range of healthcare services, including radiology. By providing certain radiology services at no cost to the patient, NYU Medical Center plays an invaluable role in providing quality healthcare for the local uninsured. National Radiologic Technology Week© (November 2-8) was created by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists to commemorate the discovery of the X-ray by Wilhelm Roentgen in 1895 and to recognize the dedicated professionals of the radiologic sciences.
This year’s theme is “Every Picture Tells a Story.” To celebrate the radiologic professionals who play such a vital role in healthcare, rt image asked techs around the country to share pictures of how they are positively impacting their community and promoting patient care.
